The stats for 2011 are out and they show that the craft brew industry continues to grow. Volume went up 13% while retails sales saw a 15% increase, thats a total barrel hike of 1.3 million.
The Brewers Association says that craft brewers represented 5.68% of volume of the U.S. beer market, up from 4.97% in 2010. They also explained that the actual dollar sales figure from craft brewers in 2011 was $8.7 billion, up from $7.6 billion in 2010.
That growth may be the reason 250 new breweries joined the 1,989 that were already operating giving the sector an 11% increase from 2010. The growing industry also saw a boost in employment rates with small breweries employing 103,585 workers.
